Taste of Bedford

On January 9th the DECA business club, which is short for Distributive Education Clubs of America, held its first Taste of Bedford Fundraiser. The goal of this fundraiser was to raise money for students attending the state and national level DECA competitions. The fundraiser was a complete success thanks to the local businesses who donated food and the many people who attended the event. In fact, around 3,000 dollars were raised because of the several charitable contributions of food from many local establishments in Bedford. The event was well-catered and involved local shops and restaurants like Cupcakes 101, Taipei and Tokyo, Sweet Lilac Bakery, Caroline’s Fine Food, Sun Shui, Yianni’s Pizza, Purple Finch Cafe, Inside Scoop, T-Bones, Whole Foods, Pizza Bella, Wine’ing Butcher, The Homestead, and Dunkin Donuts. The DECA fundraiser was also an opportunity for younger students and their families to see what DECA is and what it is about. The purpose of the DECA business club is to encourage students to pursue a business-related career path and provide them with an opportunity to learn more about the topic in general.  It also builds public speaking skills through business role plays and presentations, along with visits from local entrepreneurs and people who work in business. If you want to support our local DECA chapter, don’t forget to come again next year!
